About

Your world connected in real time

YouAre is a free service to show the world who you really are.

Our mission is to help share everything you do throughout the day while connecting with others quickly and easily with a domain that symbolizes what the participatory Web means. You are what you do.

YouAre was developed by Blogs Media, a Spanish company specializing in web development, publishing and consulting. Among their creations the standout is CSS Mania. Also is the promoting force behind Evento Blog España, the biggest blogger and web entrepeneur conference in Spain and the second most important in Europe (+1.000 participants in 2008).

The concept of YouAre as we know it today was born in May of 2007. When Blogs Media completed all their pending work with clients, in September of 2007, they dedicated their time completely to the development of YouAre.

Overview

The public presentation of YouAre was done in two phases. On December 28, 2007, we presented the project to the Spanish speaking public on the corporate web site of Blogs Media. In January 2008 we presented the site to international community through the YouAre blog.

In Summer 2008 we opened up a private beta.

We are still developing features, such as favorites by tags, which have given us pause before activating them. We are still ironing these out.

Why Microblogging (140 characters)?

  1. The instantaneous nature and the ease of publication that the format allows creates a before and after in the history of web applications.

No longer do you have to login on a dashboard and start to write new content, that once published, you'll have to access another website to see. With microblogging, you have it all integrated in one URL. Content editor, published content, and discussions about contents from other members of your network.

  2. The need for combining both professional and online identity in one place.

We believe that professional networks don't really show your true self. 140 characters does.

In contrast with other services, microblogging is, for us, the vehicle by which we strive to achieve our final goal: building a simple platform for managing your real-life identity and making the small things you do every day easier. Your true self is the what you build through everything you do throughout the day.
